|BREAD PUDDING FROM PAKISTAN|
6 slices bread
Oil to fry
1/2 c. milk
1 1/2 c. half and half
1/2 c. condensed milk
1 tsp. vanilla or use a pinch of saffron
Sliced almonds or pistachio nuts for garnish
Remove crusts from bread and cut into triangles. Fry in hot oil until golden brown on both sides. Then, pour over 1/2 cup milk. Put into refrigerator for 1 hour.
Cook milks and vanilla together on low heat until thickened, stirring constantly. Remove bread from refrigerator and pour the milk mixture over it and allow to cool. Garnish with nuts.
Substitution: 2 1/2 cups half and half, plus 1/2 cup sugar, may be substituted for the milks listed in the above ingredients.
