GINGER-BREAD COOKIES 
2/3 c. shortening
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 tsp. ginger
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1 egg
3/4 c. molasses
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder

Cream shortening, sugar, spices and salt until fluffy. Add egg and molasses. Sift flour - mix with remainder of dry ingredients and mix well. Cover and chill. Roll on floured table-top. Cut 1/4 inch thick and bake at 350 degrees.
