FRESH PRUNE KUCHEN (COFFEE CAKE) 
1 3/4 c. sifted flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/3 c. sugar
16 fresh Italian prune plums
3/4 c. sugar
3 tbsp. butter
3/4 c. milk
3/4 tsp. salt
1/3 c. shortening
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
2 tbsp. flour

Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and 1/3 cup sugar; cut in shortening until fine. Stir in milk. Spread in bottom of a buttered baking dish (12 x 8 x 2 inches). Arrange pitted, quartered plums over top. Mix 3/4 cup sugar and nutmeg cut in butter and flour to form crumbs; sprinkle over plums.

Bake at 375°F for 45 to 50 minutes. Serve warm.

Serves 6-8.
