PEAR PRESERVE 
1/4 bushel pears, peel and cut in quarters
3 lbs. sugar

Put pears in large pan. Layer with sugar and let set overnight. Cook until pears turn red and sugar turns to syrup. Let cool and put in clean dry pint jars. Put lid on. Let stand for 3 hours, then tighten lid. May be served on biscuits or toast.
