|ORANGE MANDARIN TOSSED SALAD|
1 head lettuce, torn or cut up
1 sm. onion (or 6 green onions), chopped fine
1 lg. can Mandarin oranges, drained
1 c. celery, chopped
2 tbsp. parsley, minced
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. salad oil
1/2 tsp. Tabasco sauce
1/4 c. tarragon vinegar
Put dressing ingredients in jar and shake. Just before serving, toss with candied nuts.
Put 3 or 4 tablespoons sugar in a skillet. Add slivered or sliced almonds, or walnuts. Stir until sugar melts and coats nuts. Burns easily so watch. Place nuts on waxed paper to cool, break apart and add to salad as a topping.
