EASY HOMEMADE BREAD 
1 tbsp. quick rise yeast
2 tbsp. plus 1/2 tsp. sugar
1 tbsp. salt
5 1/2 to 6 c. flour
2 c. lukewarm water
1 tbsp. shortening, melted

Combine 4 1/2 cups flour and other dry ingredients, and mix well. Add water and shortening and mix thoroughly. Add remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time until dough is right texture. Let rise in greased, covered bowl. Punch dough down and form loaves. Place in greased pans and let rise. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. For whole wheat bread, use whole wheat flour for 1 1/2 hours and white flour for the remaining amount. Makes 2 loaves.
