PAPAS CALDUDAS (SOUPY POTATOES) 
1-1 1/2 lb. chuck roast or steak
1 med. onion
1 can tomatoes
2-3 cloves garlic
1 tsp. cumin seeds or powder (about)
Salt and pepper to taste
4-6 lg. potatoes

In heavy skillet heat 3 tablespoons oil or shortening. Remove all fat from meat and cut into chunks. Brown meat in hot skillet for about 3-4 minutes. Peel and cut potatoes into medium to large pieces. Add to meat. Chop onions and add to meat and stir. Add tomatoes, garlic, and cumin. Add enough water to cover meat and potatoes. Simmer for about 30 minutes or until potatoes are tender. This is very good in winter, very filling.
