AMERICAN PIEROGI 
1 c. elbow macaroni, boil and drain
3 medium potatoes, mashed
1/2 lb. grated Cheddar cheese (use more for added flavor)
1/2 lb. butter
1 medium onion, diced fine

Fry butter and onions together. Place a layer of macaroni, potatoes, and cheese, ending with macaroni on top. Pour butter and onions on top. Bake 1/2 hour at 375 degrees. (If casserole is made night before, heat longer.)
