OLD FASHIONED NO - FAIL FUDGE 
2 c. granulated sugar
3/4 c. evaporated milk
1/4 c. cocoa
2 tbsp. light corn syrup
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Grease a shallow pan and set aside. Fill sink half full of cold water. In a saucepan, combine sugar, milk, cocoa and syrup. Cook while stirring over medium high heat. Boil until soft ball stage or 234 degrees. Remove saucepan from heat, add butter and vanilla. Place in sink of water. Cool slightly then beat well until mixture thickens and loses its glossy shine. Pour quickly into greased pan. Sprinkle with nuts if desired. Cut when cool.
