RED TAFFY APPLES 
6 red apples
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. light corn syrup
1/2 c. water
Pinch of salt
1/2 tsp. red food coloring
1/2 tsp. vanilla
6 wooden sticks

Wash and dry apples. Insert wooden stick into each one. Combine sugar, syrup, water and salt and cook over low heat until sugar is dissolved. Boil without stirring until mixture reaches light crack stage (270 degrees on a candy thermometer). Remove from heat; add food coloring and vanilla. Dip apples and place on greased tin. These can be rolled in a little coconut, if you desire.
