PRIZE WINNING WHITE CAKE 
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
3 c. cake flour OR 1 tbsp. cornstarch to 1 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 c. milk
5 egg whites, beat until stand in peaks
1 tsp. vanilla

CARAMEL FROSTING:

1 c. brown sugar
5 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 - 1 1/2 c. confectioners' sugar, sifted

Cream together butter and sugar. Add flour mixture alternately beginning with the flour and baking powder. Fold in the beaten egg whites and vanilla. Put in 3 round layer pans and bake in a moderate oven. Frost with caramel frosting.
