BUTTERSCOTCH - OATMEAL COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
3/4 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. baking powder
1 c. rolled oats
1 (12 oz.) pkg. butterscotch bits

Cream butter and brown sugar. Beat in egg and add dry ingredients, which have been sifted together. Add oats and butterscotch bits. Drop from teaspoon or tablespoon on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes for teaspoon size, a little longer for tablespoon size. They will look slightly underdone, but this makes them chewier. Preparing time: 15 minutes. Baking time: 10 minutes or longer.
