HUNGARIAN SAUERKRAUT & MEATBALLS 
1 (#2) can and 1 lg. can sauerkraut
1 qt. tomato juice
4 med. onions, chopped

Combine sauerkraut and juice in heavy kettle over low heat. Add onions. Allow to simmer while preparing meatballs. 2 med. onions, chopped 1/2 c. cooked rice 1 egg 1 tsp. paprika Salt and pepper

Mix above ingredients. Form into 2 inch meatballs. Place in sauerkraut mixture as deeply as possible. Simmer 1 1/2 hours. Make thickening from: 2 1/2 tbsp. melted shortening 1/2 c. cold water

Bake at 375 degrees for 1 hour or longer. Serve piping hot. Serves 8 to 10.
