ESCALLOPED CABBAGE 
3 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. celery salt
1/2 tsp. onion salt
1/4 tsp. white pepper
1/4 tsp. thyme
1/4 tsp. rubbed sage
1/2 tsp. chili powder
2 c. milk
1 sm. head cabbage
4 slices bacon
1/4 c. cooked ham, diced
1/2 c. grated American cheese
1/3 c. sliced green peppers
1/2 c. dry bread crumbs
2 tbsp. butter (for crumbs)

Melt butter; stir in flour which has been blended with seasonings. Add milk; cook to a smooth sauce, stirring constantly. Shred cabbage; boil briskly in a generous amount of water 10 minutes, drain.

Place alternate layers of drained cabbage, bacon that has been broiled and minced, diced ham, cheese, green pepper and seasoned cream sauce in greased baking dish. Melt the 2 tablespoons butter, add bread crumbs; mix together and spread over casserole. Bake in 350 degree oven about 30 minutes. Serve hot.

Serves 6.
