CONGO BARS 
2 3/4 c. sifted flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/4 c. brown sugar (1 lb.)
2/3 c. shortening
3 eggs
1 c. nuts, broken
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate bits

Melt shortening, add brown sugar. Stir well until mixed, allow to cool. Add eggs one at a time, beating well. Add dry ingredients, then nuts and bits. Pour into greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake in 350 degree oven, 25 to 30 minutes.
