SAUERKRAUT AND BEAN SOUP (SHAVANU
RANTAT BAB LEVES)
 
1 c. pinto beans, cooked 1 hour with ham bone in 3 c. water
1 c. sauerkraut
1/2 c. rice

RUE:

Brown 1 teaspoon bacon grease, then mix in 2 tablespoon flour until grease is absorbed. Add to liquid and stir.

After cooking beans with ham bone add sauerkraut and rice. Cook until rice is tender. Then boil hard for 10 minutes and add rue preparation slowly so it doesn't lump up.
