LAP COOKIES 
1 qt. (4 c.) molasses
1/2 pt. (1 c.) sour milk or buttermilk
1/4 c. (4 tbsp.) soda
1 pt. (2 c.) melted lard or oil
2 tbsp. cinnamon
1 tbsp. cloves
1 tbsp. nutmeg
1 tbsp. allspice
1 tbsp. ginger
1 lb. (2 c.) raisins, may omit
1 1/2 lb. (3 c.) nuts, may omit

Easier to roll and cut without them.

Mix in enough flour to take up moisture to roll out (but not too stiff). (Takes the better part of a 5 pound bag.) Just keep working in the flour. Roll out on floured table. Make into money shapes. Bake at 325 degrees until brown on edges or until firm to touch. Ice if you wish, with a thin powdered sugar and water icing.
