1 box yellow cake mix
1 box (sm.) cherry Jello
1 (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
1/2 c. confectioners' sugar
1 c. boiling water
1 c. Cool Whip
1 can cherry pie filling

Mix cake according to directions on box and bake in 9 x 13 inch baking pan. When cake is done take a fork and poke holes all over cake. Do not remove cake from pan. Mix Jello in boiling water and pour over cake, covering cake completely. Let cake cool to room temperature.

TOPPING: Mix cream cheese, confectioners' sugar, and cup of Cool Whip until smooth. Spread frosting over cake. Top with cherry pie filling. Serve with remainder of Cool Whip or ice cream, if desired.
