Salt
Cornstarch

Food coloring or tempera
Bowls

Measuring cups
Brushes
Heat (hot plate, stove, griddle)

1 c. of salt
1/2 c. cornstarch
1/2 c. of boiling water
Tempera or food coloring

Mix salt, cornstarch, water and color in pan. Heat over low heat, stirring constantly until mixture is too stiff to stir.

When cool, knead until smooth.

Give each child a lump to play with freely.

NOTE: This modeling mixture will not dry well.
