1 c. shortening 2 c. brown sugar 2 eggs 2 c. chopped nuts 2 c. chopped dates 2 c. warm beer 3 c. flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cloves 2 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. allspice 1 tsp. vanilla Cream shortening, sugar, and eggs. Sift dry ingredients. Add dates and nuts. Add beer. Divide into 2 layer pans. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes. Turn oven down to 350 degrees until cake is done. |
