Cream together:

1/2 lb. softened real butter
1/2 c. Crisco
3 c. sugar
6 eggs, add 1 at a time

Sift together:

3 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix well for 10-15 minutes. Bake in cold oven at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 20 minutes.
