1 c. shortening
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs, whole
2 egg yolks, beaten
2 2/3 c. flour, sifted
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sour milk ICING: 2 egg whites
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. nuts, chopped Cream shortening and sugar. Add whole eggs and egg yolks. Combine dry ingredients and add to eggs, butter and sugar mixture alternating with sour milk. Spread batter in a 9" x 13" greased and floured pan. Set aside. Beat egg whites until stiff and add brown sugar and nuts. Spread mixture on top of cake batter and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. |
