1/4 c. butter 1/4 c. shortening 1 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. vanilla 3 beaten eggs 2 c. sifted enriched flour 2 tsp. nutmeg 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. soda 1/4 tsp. salt 1 c. buttermilk Cream butter and shortening. Gradually add sugar and cream together until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and eggs and beat well. Sift flour, baking powder, salt and soda 3 times. Add to cream mixture alternately with buttermilk, a little at a time. Beat after each addition until smooth. Bake in 2 paper lined 9 x 1 1/2 inch round pans in a moderate oven 350 degrees for about 25 to 30 minutes. |
