1/2 c. Crisco 1 1/4 c. sugar 3 eggs 1 c. prune juice, from prunes 1 c. prunes, cooked (cut up) 2 c. sifted flour 2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. cloves 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 1/2 tsp. salt Mix all ingredients with 3 egg yolks. Beat 2 egg whites and fold in. Spoon mixture evenly in two layer cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees 35-40 minutes. Cool; frost with buttercream frosting. BUTTERCREAM FROSTING 1 egg white, beaten 1 c. sugar 1/2 c. Crisco 1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. milk, heated (lukewarm) 1 tsp. vanilla May need less milk. This cake is better if made a day or two before serving. |
