2 c. sifted plain flour 1 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. Crisco 1 tsp. salt 2/3 c. milk 3 tsp. baking powder 2 eggs 1/2 c. milk 1 tsp. vanilla Cream with mixer for 2 minutes sugar, shortening, salt, flour and 2/3 cup milk. Then stir in baking powder, add eggs, 1/2 cup milk and flavoring. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Bake in 3 (9 inch) layers at 325 degrees for 12 minutes. FROSTING FOR LAYER CAKE - YELLOW: 1 lg. can crushed pineapple, well drained 1 c. sugar 3 tbsp. cornstarch 2 tbsp. butter 2 pinches salt Juice from pineapple Add sugar, cornstarch and butter to pineapple juice; also salt. Cook until thick, add pineapple pulp and spread on layers. |
