AUNT KATIE'S CHOCOLATE LAYER CAKE
 

1/2 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
1/2 c. cocoa (fill rest of cup with boiling water)
1/2 c. sour cream
1 tsp. baking soda dissolved in sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1/2 c. chopped walnuts or pecans
2 well-beaten eggs

Cream shortening and sugars. Add the cocoa mixture and the sour cream. Stir in the vanilla, nuts and the flour. fold in the eggs. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes in 2 (8 inch) greased and floured cake pans.
