Sift together:

1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. cocoa

Add:

1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. vinegar
6 tbsp. oil or melted shortening

Pour 1 cup cold water over all. Mix with fork.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes in 9 inch square pan.

This is the best little chocolate cake. Very tasty and light and no trouble to stir up. I put a chocolate icing on from a can icing.
