2 tbsp. shortening 3 c. shredded cabbage 1 c. thinly sliced celery 1 c. thinly sliced green pepper 1 med. sized onion, thinly sliced 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper Heat shortening in a heavy skillet. Add all vegetables. Cover skillet, lower heat and cook slowly for about 5 minutes. Add seasonings and cook 1 minute longer, stirring gently. Serve at once while vegetables are still crisp. |
