AUNT ELZEN'S VEGGIE CASSEROLE
 

1 lb. bag frozen, mixed vegetables
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. garlic salt
2 tbsp. butter

SAUCE:

1/4 c. butter
1/3 c. flour
2 c. half and half
1/4 c. Parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp. salt
1 dash nutmeg
1 dash thyme
1/8 tsp. garlic powder
1 1/2 c. buttered bread crumbs

Cook veggies for 5 minutes; drain. Put in a large casserole dish. Mix salt, garlic salt and butter. Pour over veggies. To make sauce: melt butter. Add flour; mix well. Add half and half. Cook until thickens. Remove from heat and add rest of ingredients except bread crumbs, use 2 tbsp. butter to make bread crumbs. Brown them. Pour sauce over veggies then sprinkle with bread crumbs. Bake for 30 minutes in a 350 degree oven.
