CLAM CHOWDER
 

12 strips bacon, diced and fried
1/2 c. flour
2 potatoes, diced
1 onion, chopped
2 carrots, shredded
3 stalks celery, diced
1 tbsp. dried parsley flakes
1 tsp. salt
1/4 clam base
1 qt. water
1 1/2 c. milk
2 whole peppercorns
1 bay leaf
Dash of Tabasco
Dash of Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
May add white pepper
2 (7-8 oz.) cans chopped clams
