3/4 head lettuce 1/2 c. bell pepper, chopped 1/2 c. celery, chopped 1/2 c. onion, chopped 1 can sugar peas, drained 1 can water chestnuts, sliced 2 c. mayonnaise 2 tbsp. milk 1 tbsp. sugar 1 lb. cheddar cheese, grated Bacon bits Cherry tomatoes (optional) Tear lettuce into bite size pieces. Layer in a large Pyrex dish or oblong Tupperware. Layer in order given. Combine mayonnaise and milk and spread over salad. Sprinkle sugar and cover with plastic. Refrigerate 8 hours or overnight. Before serving, sprinkle with cheese and bacon bits. Cherry tomatoes can be added for color. |
