CHARLESTON RED RICE
 

1 can tomato paste
3 1/2 cans water
2 onions, chopped
2 tsp. salt
Good dash pepper
3 tsp. sugar
2 strips bacon or 4 tbsp. bacon grease

Combine all ingredients and cook for 20 minutes. Add this sauce to 2 cups raw rice in top section of steamer and cook over boiling water 1 hour, stirring once with fork. Serves 8.
