HOT WATER CORN BREAD

4 c. yellow cornmeal
4 c. boiling hot water (or may take a little more)
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. sugar
HOT oil in skillet or frying pan (half full)

Mix cornmeal, salt and sugar. Slowly pour in hot BOILING water. Mix up as you pour 1 cup at a time. Add all water to cornmeal until all is wet and firm. Make into pones (oblong or round). (Have oil heating.) When oil is hot add a pone by wetting hands in a BOWL WITH COLD WATER and making round or oblong and drop into hot oil. Brown on all sides. Remove and put on paper towel to drain excess oil from each. May lower heat if browning too fast.
