1 c. white sugar
3 tbsp. Crisco
4 eggs
3 tbsp. cider vinegar
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. cinnamon
4 c. cake flour
Combine sugar, eggs, Crisco in electric mixer. Beat on high speed for 2 minutes. Add buttermilk, vinegar, salt. Beat at slow speed for 1/2 minute.
Sift flour, soda, baking powder and spices together. Fold in but do not beat. Set in refrigerator overnight.
Next morning, fry in hot oil or Crisco at 375 degrees. This will make about 3 dozen doughnuts, cut with a cutter. Do not use donut press.
