ANISE BISCUITS
 

4 eggs, beaten
2 tsp. anise extract
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/3 lb. butter, not butter
1 1/4 c. sugar
3 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 c. fine chopped walnuts
1 tbsp. orange rind
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Add orange rind, anise, and gradually add flour and walnuts. Dough is very soft so flour working surface well, working flour into dough. Divide into 3 loaves and roll each into 10 x 122 inch long pieces. Place each on cookie sheet, they double in size. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. While still hot, glaze with confectioners sugar and milk mixture and top with colored jimmies. These freeze well.
