1 c. plain corn meal 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. bacon grease or lard 1/2 c. finely chopped cracklings 1 1/2 to 2 c. boiling water Mix boiling water with corn meal to make a thick mush. Shape into pones with fingers and cupped hands. Place pones close together in a well greased preheated, iron skillet. Serve poping hot. Serves 6. |
