2 1/4 c. flour, sifted
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. light brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
2 tbsp. vegetable oil
1/4 c. milk
1 c. unsweetened applesauce
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Sift together first 7 ingredients. Beat together sugar and eggs until fluffy. Beat in oil. Stir in flour mixture alternately with milk. Stir in applesauce and vanilla.
