PASTRY APPLE DANISH
 

CRUST:

3 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
1/2 c. milk
1 egg yolk, beaten

FILLING:

6 c. peeled apples, sliced
1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 c. butter
1 egg white, beaten

GLAZE:

1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
3 tbsp. milk

FOR CRUST: Mix flour, salt, cut in shortening. Combine milk and egg yolk; add to flour mixture. Roll out half the mixture on floured surface to fit 11 x 16 x 1/2 inch jelly roll pan. Place in pan. Arrange apples in crust. Combine sugar, flour and cinnamon; sprinkle over apples. Dot with butter. Roll out remaining pastry; place over cinnamon mixture. Brush pastry with egg white. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes. Mix the powdered sugar, salt, vanilla and milk together to make glaze. Spread on warm Apple Danish.
