1 lg. baked pie shell 1 recipe French cream filling (below) 1 pt. (or more) fresh strawberries 1 recipe Strawberry Glaze (below) 1 pt. whipping cream GLAZE: 1 c. water 1 c. sugar 2 1/2 tbsp. cornstarch Cook glaze ingredients until thick. Add red food coloring. FILLING: 1/2 c. sugar 1/4 c. flour Pinch of salt 1 tbsp. butter 1 egg yolk, combined with 1/2 c. cold milk 2 c. warm milk 2 tsp. vanilla Mix sugar, flour, cornstarch and salt. Beat egg yolk. Combine with cold milk. Add to dry ingredients. Add warm milk. Cook until smooth and thick. Pour into baked shell. Add strawberries, cut side down. Pour cooled glaze over strawberries. Decorate with whipped cream. |
