OLD FASHION POUND CAKE OR LOAF CAKES
 

1 lb. pure butter
4 c. sifted cake flour
10 eggs, separated
2 tsp. baking powder
2 c. granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream butter and blend in flour and baking powder and salt until mixture is mealy. Beat egg yolks, sugar and vanilla until fluffy. Add to mixture gradually, beating 15 minutes with hand or 5 minutes with electric mixer.

Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Beat until well blended. Pour into well greased large tube pan or two loaf pans and bake in slow oven at 325 degrees for approximately 1 hour or until done. Note: Make sure all ingredients are at room temperature and don't over fill pans.
