1/4 cup butter 1/4 cup flour 1 dash pepper 2 cups milk 2 1/2 ounces dried beef, sliced
In medium saucepan, melt butter. Blend in flour and pepper. Stir in milk. Cook over medium heat until mixture boils and thickens, stirring constantly. Reduce heat. Tear beef into shreds; add to cream sauce and heat through. Serve over toast points or mashed potatoes.
I remember my mom making this only on a larger scale. Because my dad and I would make pigs of ourselves.

I use 1/2 cup of butter and brown the dried beef in it first. Then I sprinkle the flour over it and work it in. Then add the milk a little at a time. Pepper it and stir until it becomes thick. Serve over biscuits.

When I make cream dried beef, first I fry the dried beef in the butter then finish the recipe. Brings the flavor out..
