IMITATION MINUTE STEAK
 

1 lb. hamburger
4 or 5 slices bread in pieces
Water
Flour
Salt and pepper to taste

SAUCE:

Brown gravy or
Tomatoes or sliced onions or
Mushrooms and mushroom soup or
Sliced potatoes, carrots, onions and beef broth

Combine the hamburger, bread pieces, salt and pepper in a bowl. Mix thoroughly. Add just enough water to make it real sticky. Form into patties. Coat the patties with flour which has been salted and peppered. Brown both sides in a skillet. Drain grease. Top with one of the sauces.

Put a lid on the skillet and cook over a low heat for about 30 minutes. If desired, browned patties may be put in a 2 quart baking dish, covered with sauce, covered and baked at 350 degrees for 30 or 40 minutes.
