BUTTER BEANS
 

1 lb. butter beans lima (dry)
Water to cover beans 1 inch
1 ham hock
1 onion, chopped
2 tsp. ham base
2 tbsp. butter

Put all ingredients, except butter, in pot and simmer until ham falls off bone. Remove and continue cooking beans until tender. Clean ham hock and add meat to soup when done. Add 2 tablespoons butter and eat.
