CANNED PEARS
 

To prepare pears: Wash, peel, cut in half and core. Pack pears in jars (pints).

SYRUP:

2 parts water to 1 part sugar. Bring to a boil. Remove from fire and fill the jars with syrup to within 1/2 inch from top. Adjust lids. Put in pressure cooker for 10 minutes at 10 pound pressure.

Sugar is not necessary to keep foods from spoiling, although it does help canned fruit keep its shape, color and flavor.
