1 med. onion, chopped 1 green pepper, chopped 1 lg. garlic clove, diced 2 tbsp. olive oil 1 can (16 oz.) whole tomatoes 1 can (8 oz.) tomato paste 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1 tbsp. oregano 1/2 tsp. basil Cook onion, peppers, garlic in saucepan with oil until tender. Mix remaining items while breaking up tomatoes and stirring. Reduce heat and simmer 45 minutes. Makes about 2 cups sauce. Optional: cooked sausage, ground beef or mushrooms can be added if desired. |
