FRENCH TOAST
 

1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. milk
1 1/2 inch deep shortening in wide pot
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg
6 slices of bread, white or oatmeal, cut in half

Make batter of all ingredients except bread and fat. Heat fat to 365 degrees. Dip bread into batter. Fry 2 to 3 minutes, turning once, to brown until golden. Drain on absorbent paper. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.
