GERMAN FRUIT TORTE
 

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Mix together:

2 c. flour
3/4 c. sugar
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 stick butter
3 tbsp. Crisco
3 tbsp. milk
Rind of 1 lemon, grated

Mix well, and pat into greased torte pan, or any round pan. Bake for 30 minutes. Remove from pan and let cool.

Mix 1 package lemon Jello and cool until just thickened.

Arrange in pretty pattern any fresh or canned fruit on top of torte (bananas, strawberries, green grapes, blueberries, etc.). Spoon gelatin over fruit to glaze. Stick coconut or almonds around sides. Serve with whipped cream.
