1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
butter or other shortening
1 1/4 c. applesauce
2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. raisins
1/2 c. nuts
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 egg

Cream shortening, add applesauce (mix soda in applesauce). Sift dry ingredients and add egg and mix well; add raisins. Pour into a well greased tube pan and bake for 40 minutes at 350 degrees.

Dust raisins or any fruit added with a small amount of flour.
