APPLE DUMPLINGS
 

5 apples

1 c. sugar
2 c. water

Roll out crust, cut in four inch squares. Peel apples and quarter, place quarter of apple in a square of dough (1/2 apple if apple is small).

Put butter and cinnamon on top of each dumpling. Lay slices of apples between dumplings before pouring over juice. Bake about an hour. One pie crust recipe makes a small casserole.

PIE CRUST:

1 c. flour
1/3 c. shortening
1/4 tsp. salt
Enough cold water to form dough
