Pour 1 quart of milk in saucepan. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla and 1/2 cup of sugar (or to taste).
Mix 2 tablespoons of cornstarch to 1/2 cup of milk (or until thin). Add to milk, vanilla and sugar.
Cook on low fire until it comes to a boil. Keep stirring so it doesn't stick to pan.
In a clear bowl, put 2 tablespoons of jam on bottom. Slice pound cake. Cover jam with some cake. Add more jam by teaspoonfuls on top of cake. Set aside. Pour some white sauce over.
